10/27/2019 - College PREP - Fairfield (Sacramento), CA Nick is a wiry SS/OF that will graduate in 2022. At SS, Nicks footwork is active as he works to the ball he shows a quick first step and solid lateral range. He fields the ball in an athletic stance with firm hands making quick exchanges. He makes throws around the diamond with a loose arm action making accurate and online throws around the diamond. Working on staying low as he fields will improve Nick's overall ability. At the plate, he sets up in a crouch getting his foot down on time with a smooth rhythm as he keeps his balance centered. He fires his hips through first creating fast bat speed and gets the barrel on plane making consistent line drive contact. Driving the ball to the opposite field will make Nick a more rounded hitter. Overall, Nick shows solid tools and the ability to play at the next level with several years to develop.

02/17/2019 - College PREP - Stockton (Sacramento), CA Nick is a talented 2B/OF prospect who has a hardworking, scrappy attitude. At 2B, Nick plays with quick footwork and agile actions. He tracks the ball well and fields it in a square position. Nick fields the ball with firm hands and shows a smooth back hand when needed. He has a quick exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Nick has a quick release showing accurate, strong throws across the diamond. As a right-handed hitter, Nick has a crouched setup with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and on-time stride as his lower half leads his swing. Nick shows an on-plane swing path and gets good rotation with his core. He shows the ability to go with the ball to the opposite field. Nick is a contact type hitter who looks to put the ball in play. In the outfield, Nick has a good first step and makes the routine plays. He shows decent range and fields the ball in a square position. Nick has a restricted arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. Overall, Nick is a versatile prospect who has a well-rounded game on both sides of the ball.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Nick is an athletic and talented 2022 2-way prospect. At 2B, Nick has an active prep step, shows range on both sides of the ball, and anticipates the ball off the bat. He needs to continue to present a low/early glove, and work from the ground up. Continuing to practice game like throws in his throwing program will increase his ability to throw from multiple arm angles and on the run. At the plate, Nick starts in an open stance, loads his hands back into the drive position, and keeps the barrel on plane. He has a simple approach at the plate and shows pull side pop. He needs to create backside rotation into the ball, attack the inside part of the ball, and stay balanced through contact. On the bump, Nick gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and is directional with the lower half. His fastball sits 71-73 and he has late break on his curveball. Developing a change up will allow him to work off his fastball more effectively. Nick will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future. 73

05/06/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Arcata, CA Nick is a young, 2-way player with an athletic frame. At 2nd base, Nick has active feet, agile movements, and he fields in a low/athletic position. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
