Official Scouting Report

  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

10/22/2017 - College PREP - Potomac, MD Nick is an athletic, ambidextrous OF/pitcher who will graduate in 2019. In the OF, Nick has active footwork, good range, and he works behind the baseball well. He fields in a square position, shows a clean/quick exchange, and throws with accuracy and carry to his target. On the mound, Nick can pitch both righty and lefty, and shows to be equally as effective. He throws slightly harder from the right side (71-72 MPH), he has a good arm action, and direction toward home. From the left side, his CB appears to be sharper with 1/7 shape, he keeps his eyes on target, and finishes in a square position. Working to finish more out over his front side will help to improve effectiveness on all pitches. Offensively, this switch hitter displays a square setup, a proper load, and he stands in well balanced. His swing from both sides is very similar. Nick swings aggressively, has a direct barrel to the ball, and makes square/consistent contact. He works to engage his lower 1/2 and hit line-drives consistently. Nick is a versatile athlete who brings a array of tools to the diamond.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
