ADVANCED SWING METRICS BY SWINGTRACKER

Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

09/22/2019 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Nick is a lean RHP/3B who will graduate in 2020. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.09. At 3B, he displays clean / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Glove actions is clean but needs to present more out front. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground. At the plate, he shows a tall, open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 77 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed but throws too hard, resembling fastball. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. Nick has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
