04/10/2016 - College PREP - Costa Mesa (Los Angeles), CA Nick is a strong, athletic 1B/LHP who has a tremendous future in the game of baseball. He has plus tools across the board and the makings of a special type player at the next level. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.99. At 1B, defensive abilities are at a pro level, displaying smooth / athletic actions. He moves well laterally, displaying plus range. Feet are quick / aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Bag awareness is outstanding as he displays proper footwork and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying tremendous hitting / power potential. Hands are quick (89 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball and has strength, creating backspin in his swing with baseball exploding off the bat. Barrel accuracy is outstanding as he will hit and hit to all fields with pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 83-86 mph with cutting action. Nick has the makings of a solid draft pick in 2017 and will get looks from the top collegiate coaches and pro scouts with his baseball abilities.

08/17/2011 - Interactive Video Program - South Williamsport, PA Nick is an impressive player for his age as a 1B / LHP. Offensively, he has a solid setup and smooth swing. He displays quick hands getting the bat through the zone. Nick has explosive bat speed and fluid rhythm. On the mound, Pratto throws 3, all above-average pitches. His FB shows run and hard movement while his CB has 2/8 shape with some depth. He has on-time separation, is on-line, and lands square. Defensively at 1B, Nick takes good pre-pitch movements has nice actions. He can turn the DP and displays some arm strength. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following:

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
