06/05/2013 - Under Armour Southeast Championships, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Nick is a physical OF/LHP with solid instincts and feel for the game. As a LHP, Nick has the ability to change speeds while pitching to contact and his frame suggests he has a lot of room to grow. He varies his holds and looks with men on base to help control the run game; he repeats his delivery and keeps his defenders involved with good tempo and a lot of strikes. As an OF, Nick takes good routes to the ball, makes clean consistent exchanges and calls the ball on time and with confidence to avoid collisions. He will benefit from continuing to work on his first step off the bat being direct and aggressive as well as continuing to work on getting rid of the ball quicker without sacrificing strength or accuracy. At the plate, Nick has a simple set up with some rhythm and solid balance. He has good hand-eye, puts the ball in play consistently and has a pretty good understanding of situational hitting which allows him to hit in a number of different spots in the lineup. He will improve as a hitter as he sees the ball deeper into the hitting zone to better access the opposite field with a short quick path to the inside of the ball. Overall, Nick is a great kid with a strong work ethic and played with high energy the entire tournament. He is a tremendous student and displays the kind of discipline that college coaches are seeking in high level programs all over the country.
