09/12/2015 - Infield Accelerated Training Weekend (Ages 12-14) Nick showed himself to be a sure-handed infielder during the Accelerated Training event. A more consistent pre-pitch preparation routine where he moves his feet and lands in an athletic position will help Nick to be lighter on his feet which will improve his range and overall play-making ability. He does show a quality technique on the backhand play with his sure hands and also executes the charge play well by working to get around the baseball creating momentum and throwing on the run. Nick demonstrated an accurate arm with a good arm stroke that fits his position and he would benefit from continued hard work on a long-toss throwing program to increase velocity and carry to throws across the diamond.

08/03/2015 - Interactive Video Program - Wilmington, DE Nick is a R/R 2-way player as a 3B/1B. With the bat, this RH swinger shows a square setup with patience. Swing is level/compact through the zone as he connects and drives the ball back up the middle of the field. At 3B, Nick hustles and works into a low fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt and funnels smoothly. He has a clean exchange with accurate throws across the diamond. At 1B, he has good bag awareness and can adjust his footwork well. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Offense
1. Extension through contact
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Relax/loosen grip
3rd Base
1. Glove presentation
2. Play through ball
1st Base
1. Lateral quickness
2. Footwork/agility

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
