09/02/2018 - College PREP - Troy (Albany), NY Nick is an athletic OF/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the OF, Nick shows active footwork and covers ground well. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and keeps his throws accurate and on-line to his target. Nick can improve defensively by playing through the ball more. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and is smooth getting into his load. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact to all fields. Nick can improve as a hitter by maintaining center balance. On the mound, Nick gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm action and extends through on his release, finishing square to the plate. Nick shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 70mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 64-65mph with 9-3 break. Changeup ranges from 65-67mph with sinking action. Nick can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. Overall, Nick is a solid prospect who has the potential to contribute at the next level.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Nick is a hard working OF/RHP prospect who hustled all over the field during his time at the Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Nick works behind the ball and gets into a square position, fielding the ball out in front of his body. Nick can improve defensively by working on his footwork to improve his range. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into his load well and maintains center balance throughout his swing. He takes a short swing with decent bat speed which produces solid line drives. Nick can improve as a hitter by working a smoother rhythm into his load. On the mound, Nick works fast and is very aggressive attacking hitters. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 74mph with good sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with 11-5 break. Changeup ranges from 72-73mph as he throws with FB arm speed. Nick can improve as a pitcher by gathering to a balance point over the rubber and staying in line towards the plate. Overall, Nick is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
