12/18/2016 - College PREP - Madison (NYC), NJ Nick is an athletic 1B/OF who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 60 time of 7.31. At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick (94 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows strength in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap to gap pop. Barrel accuracy is a plus as works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Feet are aggressive as attacks balls and plays through well. Hands are soft / clean as he presents well out front. In the OF, he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He is aggressive but needs to work to get behind balls more to play through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Nick has a lot of potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
