At the plate is where he shows best through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength (85 mph exit velocity) in his swing and shows a feel for the barrel with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At 3B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Glove action is soft / sure and presents out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases his foot quickness. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

03/13/2021 - Spring Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Nico is a RHP/3B prospect who continues to develop on the diamond. On the mound, Nico works with a loose arm and accelerates through his release. In the field, Nico shows active footwork and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he makes strong throws across the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and tracks the ball well. He hits against a strong front side and drives the ball from gap to gap with authority. With four more years to develop, Nico has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

Swing is quick as he connects and his hard/consistent line-drives (exit velocity = 74 mph). He hits the ball where it's pitched and has the ability to spray it. Even more power potential is there as he works to engage and use his strong lower 1/2 more. Only a 2025 grad - Nico has tools with still a ton of time to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
