02/19/2024 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Nicolas is an athletic OF/RHP who showed as a prospect with his baseball abilities. In the OF, defensive abilities are solid as he utilizes his aggressive feet as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. He moves well laterally and utilizes his tremendous foot quickness (6.69 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (80 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and delivers the barrel with intent. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 74-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Slider has tight spin with short break. Nicholas has upside and will get looks from collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
