08/03/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Nicolas performed very well competing on both sides of the battery crew at the Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City. Offensively, he had good balance through the swing and got his hands activated to launch with fluidity to hit. He kept his head centered to hit and stayed tight/compact with his path for pop. He worked in the cage to keep his front side closed for greater plate coverage and for more consistency in hard contact to all fields. Behind the plate, he received out in front and had good body control to drop down and block. He showed present arm strength with pops in the 2.0 - 2.1 range. During individual defense he worked to increase his feel to receive with a soft glove and worked to get his legs under him to throw. On the other side - he threw his FB with tail, spun an 11/5 CB with late break and good command, and showed a tailing CH. He repeated his delivery, had free arm whip, and changed speeds very efficiently. He was aggressive and confident, working ahead of hitters and keeping them off-balance with command of all 3 pitches. All in all - as a 2017, Nicolas is a very projectable 6'2/170 lbs player with a great attitude and leadership qualities.
