12/06/2015 - College PREP - McCook (Chicago), IL Rosa-Palermo stands at 5-foot-9 and 142 pounds, and posted a solid 60 yard dash of 7.31 seconds. At the plate, he made aggressive passes through the zone after doing a good job of tracking pitches into the zone. His approached seemed suited for contact back up the middle. He tended to collapse his back leg and made a move through the zone on a slightly upward path, creating topspin and some glancing contact. As he gets stronger he should be able to maintain better body control such that he is able to level out his path and create more backspin. In the outfield, he took good angles to balls and got the ball out of his glove well. He tended to be a little choppy with his footwork, slowing down his release and not allowing ideal momentum to be created to the target. Overall, a young outfielder with room to develop both with the glove and the bat.

07/24/2015 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Nicolas is a lean OF that will graduate in 2019 with a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.31 60 time. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup with good tempo. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel as he works to stay inside the ball to utilize all fields with strength in his swing, displaying gap to gap pop. In the OF, he reads balls well off the bat and takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He communicates well and will go get the baseball, covering a lot of ground and displaying plus range. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he displays a great attitude, is very coachable, and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 4 years to further develop, Nicolas has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
