07/27/2021 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (HS) Niklaus is a coachable LHP/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the National World Series at Pirate City. On the mound, Niklaus gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works inline toward the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. Niklaus operates with a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 76mph with sinking action. Breaking ball sits from 57-58mph with 1-7 break. Changeup sits at 66mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Finishing with his chest over his front knee can help Niklaus improve his pitch command. In the field, Niklaus shows active footwork with a quick first step. He fields the ball out in front with a firm glove and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate throws to his target. Niklaus can field ground balls more efficiently by getting into a lower fielding position. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a small load and drives through well with his lower half. He works through a compact swing and produces loud line drives to all fields. Getting more extension through the ball can help Niklaus produce more pop off the barrel. Overall, Niklaus is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.
