Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/09/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Niko showed well on the mound during his last workout with The Factory. He is a tall framed 2-way player who currently projects best on the mound. Niko has a loose/clean arm circle, he separates on time, and lands with good direction toward home plate. He works well to his balance point, his off-speed show well, and he competes in the zone. At 1B, Niko moves well to the ball, he centers it properly, and has good bag awareness. He has firm hands and an accurate arm to his target. Offensively, Niko has a tall/square set-up, a short stride, and a line drive swing. He will need to work on the following in order for skills to improve.

Pitching
1. Windup
2. Finish
3. Release
Infield
1. Aggressiveness
2. Footwork
3. Release
Offense
1. Swing path
2. Lower body
3. Rhythm

12/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Nyack (NYC), NY Niko is a tall (5'8"/140) 2-way player as a 1B/RHP. Defensively, he hustles to his right and left and works into a square fielding position. He tracks the ball into his mitt, gathers well and works in-line towards his target. With the bat, this switch hitter currently shows slightly better from the right side. He displays a square setup with centered balance. Swing is simple/short to and through the zone as he squares the ball up. On the mound, this RHP has a 3-pitch mix (FB, CB, CH) coming from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and stays directional toward the dish. FB tops out at 70 mph while breaking ball shows 11/5 shape. Continuing to work on the following will help aid in his development on the diamond.

Defense
1. Foot speed
2. Arm strength (long toss)
3. Lower fielding position
Offense
1. Contact points
2. Rhythm
3. Relax/loosen grip
Pitching
1. Glove side lead/tuck
2. Finish with extension

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
