11/15/2012 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Nikolas is a good kid and showed a hard work ethic at camp. In the field, he works to square the ball and keeps it in front. He can benefit by reaching a lower fielding position and making sure he plays through the ball, finishing his throws. Agility drills will help with his overall footwork in the infield. On the mound, Nikolas shows great mound presence going right after hitters. He keeps a good rhythm with on time separation and level shoulders. He can work on landing softer on the ball of his foot as well as work on completing his throwing motion. Long toss and towel drill will help with arm action and velocity. At the plate, Nikolas shows an aggressive approach with some bat speed. He will need to continue to focus on reaching a strong loading position before the ball enters the hitting zone. This will help him use his lower half more efficiently which will help increase power. Continue to focus on trying to keep the barrel inside the ball. Nikolas is young and shows the willingness to work hard; by focusing on the areas above he should see improvement.
