06/16/2017 - USA Baseball 17U Championships Nolan is a coachable player who worked hard on his skill during his time and the USA Baseball 17U Championships. Nolan is a great fielder in the OF and at SS. He shows quick feet and is very agile moving to center the ball in the middle of his body. He gets into a low, athletic position to field the ball with soft hands in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws which allows them to remain accurate and on-line to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short, square stride to the ball. He is smooth getting into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a short swing with fast bat speed which leads to line drives and power to his pull side gap. Overall, Nolan is a talented prospect who has the skill set to perform well at the next level.

01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Nolan continues to show solid progress in his baseball abilities. In the MIF, feet are aggressive as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Hands are soft / clean and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hands are quick and work through a level swing path, creating extension. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

11/13/2016 - College PREP - Riverside, CA Nolan is a lean athletic SS/OF prospect who has electric skills on the field. His best asset is his cannon of an arm which he shows off to gun down runners from deep in the hole and from the outfield. He is smooth at short with easy actions and great feel for the position, playing through the ball and showing plenty of range. His hands are soft and he fields out front while showing a clean exchange to gain momentum to throw to his target. He shows polish in the outfield with precise routes to the ball and his throwing mechanics. He gets behind fly balls and plays through to get plenty of carry on his throws. At the plate, he shows his strength and quick twitch actions with great bat speed and a strong lower half to generate power. His path is direct and level to the ball, with extension to create backspin and carry, showing extra base power. Getting more separation between his lower half and his hands will allow him to stay back longer and react to off speed pitches better. Nolan is a premier prospect who should be sought after to play at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
