Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 2B/RHPPosition Projection

06/20/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Nolan is a 2B/RHP that shows improvement in his game. In the field, he shows a pre-pitch routine with active feet and good lateral movements. Nolan can improve in the field by focusing on presenting his hands out front of his body when making plays. Throwing velocity will improve with natural growth and throwing progression. At the plate, Nolan shows good mechanics with his athletic set up and doesn't get cheated. He displays a short stride with a good load and smooth rhythm. He keeps his balance center and stays through with his lower half while keeping loose hands in his bat path. On the mound, Nolan shows great mechanics and pounds the zone with his FB and cutter from a high 3/4 arm slot. He displays good timing to home plate and will see more success with the development of an off-speed pitch. Nolan shows a good feel for pitching with good poise and composed emotions on the mound. He is aggressive, tries to pitch ahead in counts and does a decent job at holding runners on. Nolan shows great intangibles as he is coachable and hustles everywhere on the field.

05/13/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Windsor (Madison), WI Nolan is a tall, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and RHP. Defensively, Nolan has active feet, agile movements, and he fields in a low/athletic position. He has firm hands, makes plays, and throws with accuracy and consistency to his target. On the mound, Nolan has a balanced/repeatable delivery, a clean arm action, and a controlled landing toward home plate. Offensively, Nolan can switch hit and is about equally as good from both sides. From the right, Nolan has an aggressive swing, good feel for the barrel, and he uses his lower body. From the left, Nolan has good balance, he swings in good rhythm, and he can hit to all fields. Nolan can improve overall skills with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
