12/20/2016 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 1 Nolan is an athletically built catching prospect who has talent on both sides of the baseball. At the plate, Nolan is ready to hit with an aggressive approach. He has an open stance with good load and square stride as he uses his lower half throughout the swing. Nolan has smooth rhythm and above average bat speed producing line drive results. He uses the whole field and shows power to the pull side. Defensively, Nolan is a vocal leader and works well with his pitchers. He has a solid, athletic setup and plays with active footwork. He tracks the ball well and receives it with a soft glove. Nolan has a clean exchange leading into an over the top release producing on line throws. Nolan does an effective job blocking the baseball. Overall, Nolan has a bright future with high upside as he continues matures.

05/08/2016 - College PREP - Tampa, FL Nolan is a lean, athletic catcher who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate is where he shows best displaying well above average hitting abilities through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a solid line drive approach. Behind the plate, hands / feet work well together through a quick / clean transfer exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times show a range of 2.19-2.30 with accuracy on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills will continue to improve as he develops and get more reps. With 3 years to further develop, Nolan has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
