05/28/2019 - 2019 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Nolan is a strong RHP/3B who has tremendous upside as a two-way player. On the mound, Nolan gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and gets good extension through his release, finishing with a controlled landing. Nolan shows an advanced three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 94mph. Breaking ball sits from 72-76mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits from 79-83mph with good arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. In the field, Nolan shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a low position and fields with soft hands. He makes a clean exchange and gains momentum well on his throws, showing off his arm strength with great carry through his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and is smooth getting into his load. He drives through well with his lower half and produces explosive bat speed through the zone, leading to plus plus power to his pull side. Overall, Nolan is a talented prospect who will be among the top two-way players in his class.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
