09/03/2021 - Baseball Factory's All-Region Tournament (HS) Nykolis is a 2022 C/RHP who showcased his skills at the All Region Tournament. Behind the dish, he shows an easy sit, with a low target, and tracks pitches well. Works with good direction towards second base, with a clean transfer, and made accurate throws to second base with an arm velocity up to 81mph with a best pop time of 2.2 seconds. At the plate, shows good hand separation as he gets knob to C, with quick hands, and natural strength at contact point. During the games, he reached base 6 times including a double, 3 singles, and 2 base on balls. On the mound, he showed a confident demeanor and some feel for pitching. Separates his hands on-time and has a controlled landing. He attacked hitters with a FB that sat 74-76mph with good movement in the strike zone and a knuckleball that he commands. With another year of development, we see Nykolis having a bright future on the baseball field.

09/04/2020 - HS All-Region Tournament Nykolis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times showed in the 2.16 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (84 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact, showing a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 74 mph. Fastball shows good arm side run / sink. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is outstanding as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/22/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Nykolis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and he has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.15 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Feet are quick in gaining ground through a clean transfer / exchange. He shows a solid setup, sticks balls well in the zone, and utilizes his body well through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive approach. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/23/2017 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Nykolis showed as a SS/C at the event and continues to show a promising future on the diamond. At SS, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are aggressive in attacking balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean and presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent hard contact with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a HR. Behind the plate, pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.50. Feet are active working in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/07/2017 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Nykolis continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange and gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.52 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a solid setup and sticks ball through the receiving process. Blocking skills are solid as he utilizes his body well, keeping balls in front. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a squared setup. Hands are quick (70 mph exit velocity) and works through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. With 5 years to further develop, Nykolis has the makings of a special type player as he continues to progress his game.

05/14/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Tampa, FL Nykolis is an athletic C/SS. Behind the plate, he's efficient on his feet as he tries to work around. He gains ground and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. At SS, he takes fluid angles and gets around the GB. He fields the ball in an athletic position and makes accurate throws to his target. With the stick, Nykolis uses a middle of the field approach. He swings short/level through the zone as he creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
