12/27/2011 - Vero Beach Christmas Camp and Tournament Nyle is a 2016 graduate who is a SS/C. In the infield, he displayed quick/active feet and he uses two hands, but he has a tendency to stab at the ball at times(as he needs to field from low to high). Nyle is an aggressive fielder who is very athletic and light on his feet. He needs to lower his fielding position, field the ball out front more and get his glove down earlier. He is a good game player who's athleticism translated well into the OF. Nyle made some exceptional plays when put in the OF during the camp. We would like to see Nyle concentrate mostly in the infield and get away from catching. While he is not bad as a catcher he has above average skills in the infield and a natural feel that cannot be taught. At the plate, Nyle has an athletic stance, workable load and a gap-to-gap approach. He needs to shorten his swing, get his stride foot down earlier and let the ball travel into the proper hitting zone. He is extremely quick/aggressive on the bases, which is one of his best attributes. Nyle is a great kid, respectful and hard working who possesses a great deal of ability and should be a player to watch in the future.

11/10/2011 - Pirate City Select Training - 2011 (Pre HS) Nyle is an athletic 2016 graduate who plays SS and Catcher. He has better than average arm strength from a high 3/4 arm slot and he is a little inconsistent with his accuracy. As a fielder Nyle displayed soft/sure hands, quick/fluid footwork, athletic/square fielding position, excellent agility, plus backhand and he plays through the ball very well. Overall Nyle is a very infielder with the potential to be great if he keeps working hard to polish his fundamentals. Behind the plate he has a low/stable set-up, active footwork (but inefficient) and he is in-line on his throws. However Nyle needs to shorten his arm action and lesson the amount of steps when releasing the ball. Also, he has a tendency to pick at the ball instead of blocking and he has holes. Defensively Nyle has a lot of potential but he should probably focus the bulk of his efforts into being an infielder. At the plate he has a square set-up, short stride, sound load, average bat speed and a short swing path. Nyle needs to make sure he lets the ball travel into the proper hitting zone. If he focuses on the fundamentals defensively and an adjustment at the plate Nyle should be a stand-out player in the future.

09/10/2011 - Accelerated Hitting Weekend (Pre-High School) Nyle again did a very good job for us at camp. He is a very athletic young man who hits from both sides of the plate. His swing is similar from both sides however at present we like him best from the right side. He shows very good hand and bat speed from the right side and is more coordinated. From the left side has hand speed and eye hand coordination but it is not as sharp or accurate as he is from the right. From the right side the biggest area that we would like to see him improve upon is letting the ball travel. He takes a long stride and really tries to go out and get the ball rather than letting it come to him and simply turning on it. This causes him to come out of balance and to poke at the ball rather than being able to swing through it with his full force. He takes a very similar swing to this from the right side however he tends to commit his hands even earlier from the left side which makes him primarily an upper body swinger which will limit his power and bat speed. If Nyle can work to let the ball come to him and keep his center of mass more between his feet we believe that you will see a marked improvement in his production at the plate.

09/03/2011 - Accelerated Infield Weekend (Pre-High School) Nyle is a super kid and worked very hard for us at the infield camp. He displays good athleticism and overall athletic ability. He has good, quick feet and shows the ability to work around the ball and through. His hands are sure and soft when he fields the ball out front, will need to make sure that he presents his hands out front as he has a tendency to allow his hands to get deep at times. He has adequate arm strength but will need to make sure that he turns it loose. At times he gets a little tentative with his throws, he has the arm strength but must let it go. He showed the ability to throw from all different arm slots which is critical for infielders. He picked up on the double play feeds that we taught quickly and is reasonably quick with them. He will need to work on his double play pivots, must work to quicken his exchanges and be smoother with his footwork around the bag. Overall Nyle shows a good upside in the infield and has all the physical tools to be an above average infielder.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
