12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18)
Octavio shined once again at the event in Pirate City. Behind the plate, feet work in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.19 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. He shows a solid setup and presents a low target. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centers balls well out front, and is a wall behind dish. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and has strength with gap-to-gap pop. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 73-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. Control is solid as he attacks hitters and throws strikes with all his pitches. Getting on a long toss program will help to increase arm strength which will aid in his development on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and a leader behind the plate.
