12/27/2018 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Oliver is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City. In the field, Oliver takes a good first step and displays active footwork. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a quick exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, working to keep his throws accurate to his target. Oliver can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, Oliver sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He gets into a simple load and rotates his core well, leading to consistent contact and line drives. Getting his stride foot down sooner can help Oliver improve as a hitter. On the mound, Oliver gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and stays inline towards the plate, finishing with a controlled landing. Oliver shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 81mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 67-68mph with 10-4 break. Changeup sits at 71mph as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Extending through his release more can help Oliver improve as a pitcher. Overall, Oliver is a solid prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.
