01/14/2011 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2011 Omar is a strong, solid Catcher who will graduate in 2011. Behind the dish, Omar has a good base, playable feet, and sure hands. He looks the ball in, blocks the ball well, and squares his feet to his target. Omar has a strong arm and a good release to 2nd base. His pop times were clocked as low as 1.94, one of the best at the event. Defensive grades can improve if Omar can gain ground better and shorten his arm stroke. At the plate, Omar has good balance, a short / compact swing, and direct hands to the ball. He has a level bat path, puts the ball in play, and has nice pop in his bat. A better load and added physical strength will continue to help raise hitting grades. Omar is a solid catcher and should be on the list of many college coaches now that his senior year is underway.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
