01/13/2012 - 2012 Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Omar continued to show strong abilities in his game during his time at the All-America tournament. Behind the plate, he continues to show a strong arm and quick/clean exchange, with pop times ranging from 1.97 - 2.13. He has a wide base and centers the ball well. On the mound, he improve his top velocity on his FB, now topping out at 87 mph. His CB and CH are solid off-speed pitches that off-set his FB well. Mound effectiveness will improve if he can keep the ball down in the zone. Offensively, he gets his lower 1/2 thru and flashes pop off of his bat. Omar is an all-around solid player who will gets looks to play behind the plate as well as on the mound.

07/09/2011 - Team One West 2011 Omar is a tall, athletic two-way player as a catcher and right-handed pitcher that will graduate in 2013. Currently, he projects best as a catcher for the next level. His foot speed is near average as he will benefit by getting on a speed / agility program to improve foot quickness for the next level. His feet are active, working in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. His pop times show a range of 2.03-2.14 seconds with a mean of 2.09, with his throws having life and carry through his target. His receiving and blocking skills show as playable tools at the next level. Offensively, Moldando shows an aggressive approach with hands working directly to the baseball. He has strength in his swing with the barrel working through the ball at contact, displaying extension. Omar has great barrel accuracy with the baseball exploding off his bat when centered. On the mound, his fastball shows a range of 80-82 MPH. His change-up is his best off speed pitch, showing average feel for with fading action. Omar's breaking ball is still a pitch in development. He pitches to contact and throws strikes with all his pitches. With 2 years to further develop, Omar has a lot of potential with the makings of a solid catcher both offensively and defensively.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
