Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • RHP/3BPosition Projection

06/20/2022 - Omaha National World Series - Session 2 (HS) Orion showed nice upgrades on the mound during his time in Omaha. He increased velocity to 80 MPH, showed a good mound presence, and a clean arm circle. Orion has good command of his pitches, keeps his eyes on target, and lands in a controlled position toward home plate. At 3rd, Orion gets in a good ready position, footwork is active, and he fields athletically. He makes plays, fields low, and throws with accuracy and carry from a strong arm across the diamond. Offensively, Orion has an open stance, a short stride, and he swings in good rhythm. He works the ball well gap to gap, rotates his lower body, and shows strength to the pull side. Orion also increased grip strength and lowered 60 time to 7.52 seconds.

12/12/2021 - All-In Membership - Gambrills, MD Orion is a 2024 graduate that demonstrated the ability to become a solid two-way player. This 3B/RHP possesses a strong and solid frame (5"10" 180). In the field, Orion has great pre-pitch movement and ability to create a squared up fielding approach. His transfers are clean which produces accurate feeds to both bases. On the mound, Orion generates great balance with a 3/4 arm slot. He is on time with his separation and can locate his fastball well. On occasion he can drop his release point below his belt to gain deception and more arm side run. Once he learns to speed his arm up, he will increase his velocity and further his release point. At the plate, he has a controlled short stride and his balance is centered. He generates power (80 exit velo) with a barrel that gets to the attack zone quickly. His on plane path produces a line drive approach. Orion is a talented player with a lot of upside.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
