12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Orlando continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, deadening balls well out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.10 as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting abilities with well above average power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well as he transfers weight well into a firm front side. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and great team player.

07/19/2021 - All-In Membership - Houston, TX Orlando is a C prospect who will graduate in 2024. He continues to show improvement in all facets of his game. Medium frame, with thick lower, and athletic build with some strength present. Behind the dish, he has active feet, with athletic actions, and an easy sit. An ability to stick balls with a loud mitt. Good lateral movement, with good blocking angles, and a soft chest. Rolls shoulders and blocks the 5-hole. He works thumb under, with a quick/clean exchange, into a high 3/4 release point with accurate/on-line throws to second base. Arm velocity was 80mph and his best pop time was 2.19 seconds. A right-handed hitter, he hits from an upright and slightly open stance. Square stride, with a small hand load, and a flat barrel path through the zone. Sprayed the ball to all fields with a bat a bat exit velocity of 75mph during BP. Orlando should have opportunities to play at the next level with continued growth and development.

12/11/2020 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Orlando continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process, centering balls out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.25 with accuracy to his target. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (and work through an aggressive swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

09/12/2020 - Fall Pro Training Experience - TX (HS) Orlando continues to shine on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, centering balls well out front. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.30. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

05/27/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - San Antonio, TX Orlando is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Orlando shows active footwork and is agile moving to block. He sits in an athletic stance and receives with soft hands. He makes a quick exchange and gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate with carry through the 2B bag. Long tossing to build up his arm strength can help Orlando improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He takes a direct swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact to his pull side. Orlando can improve as a hitter by working a smoother load into his swing. Overall, Orlando is a solid prospect who has the time and potential to further develop his skills on the field.

01/05/2020 - Interactive Video Program - San Antonio, TX Orlando showed nice upgrades in his game at his last workout in San Antonio. He increased arm velocity to 73, exit velocity to 67 MPH, and INF along with hitting numbers improved. Behind the plate, Orlando has active feet with agile range. He takes nice angles to block, he looks the ball into his glove, and his exchange is clean with accuracy to 2nd base. He also lowered pop times to 2.5 seconds. At 1st, Orlando has active feet, he fields in a low/square position, and he has good bag awareness. He has an aggressive approach, and he gains momentum when throwing across to his target. Offensively, Orlando has an open stance, he loads well, and swings in good rhythm. He swings on plane and has power in his bat.

10/27/2019 - National Tryout Plus - Corpus Christi, TX Orlando raised arm velocity to 69 MPH and ran his best 60 at 8.59 seconds during his last workout with The Factory. Behind the plate, Orlando showed active feet, a presentable glove, and he moves with agility to the ball. He sits in easy, sticks it well, and throws with a short/accurate arm to 2nd base. At 1B, Orlando moves well to the ball, footwork is fluid, and he fields cleanly. He has good bag awareness, makes plays, and throws with momentum and accuracy across the diamond. Offensively, Orlando has a square stance, a level swing path, and he makes solid contact. He shows the ability to spray the ball to all fields and he taps into some lower body.

07/21/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Orlando continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed in the 2.62 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he continues to build more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and receives the ball well. He utilizes his body well through the blocking process, but needs to get body down sooner. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact, showing a feel for the barrel with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude and good instincts with plays with a lot of energy.

06/19/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training at the College World Series (Ages 12-14) Orlando is a coachable C/1B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Select Training at the College World Series. Behind the plate, Orlando sits in an athletic primary stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. He makes a clean exchange and gains ground on his throws to 2B, keeping them accurate to the bag. He is efficient moving to block and keeps the ball in front of him. Orlando can improve defensively by long tossing to build up his arm strength. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is controlled getting his hands activated and remains centered in his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid contact. Driving his lower half more can help Orlando improve as a hitter. With five more years to develop, Orlando has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
