Official Scouting Report

02/06/2022 - All-In Membership - Palmetto, FL Oscar is a solid 2B/OF in the 2022 class. Has a 6’0/170 frame with tremendous projectability. On the dirt, he takes great angles to the baseball and works through the ball in a low and athletic fielding position. His active footwork is on time with the hop and he funnels quickly into a short and quick ¾ arm slot. Arm plays well (83 velo), to make strong crisp accurate feeds across the diamond. Has the ability read the runners speed to determine when to play fast or work effectively at 90%. In the OF, possess the necessary strengths to play at the next level. Has a quick 1st step to cover from line to gap and works to position himself behind the baseball. Takes strong routes and fields in an athletic position. He uses a higher arm angle (high ¾) for further carry and is accurate to the base with on-line throws or properly timed long hops. Working on his speed will help keep him in the middle of the diamond. At the plate, his swing is tailor made to produce doubles in the pull or back side gaps. He is balanced and on time with his swing and tracks the baseball with a quiet head in the hitting zone. Overall, Oscar is going to make a fine addition to a college program very soon.

05/14/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Tampa, FL Oscar is an athletic OF/2B. Defensively in the OF, he takes solid routes as he works behind the fly ball. He attacks the GB and comes up with a clean exchange to throw. At 2B, he gets out in front and fields GB's with soft hands. He moves well to his backhand side and has a clean exchange on DP's. With the bat, Oscar shows an athletic setup with smooth rhythm to load. He swings level through the zone as he drives pitches back up through the middle of the field. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Infield
1. Lateral range
2. Develop softer hands
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Outfield
1. Work from ground up
2. Quicker exchange to throw
3. Play through the ball
Offense
1. Improve bat speed
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Drive pitch the other way

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
