12/27/2019 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic (Ages 12-14) Oscar is a coachable IF prospect who worked hard on his skills during the West Coast Winter Classic. In the field, Oscar shows efficient footwork and gets into a low position. He fields the ball out in front of his body and makes a two-handed exchange. He gains momentum well on his throws, keeping them accurate to his target. Increasing his lateral range can help Oscar improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a closed stance and takes a controlled stride. He is on time getting his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a smooth swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Oscar can improve as a hitter by working on his oppo technique. Overall, Oscar is a talented prospect who has the potential to further develop his skills on the field.

01/21/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Tucson, AZ Oscar is a young, 2-way player with a strong lower body. At 2nd base, Oscar has active footwork, he gets into a good ready position, and he moves well to the glove side. He fields athletically, plays through properly, and throws with a short/accurate arm to his target. Behind the plate, Oscar has quick feet, he sticks the ball well, and tucks his chin when blocking. He has firm hands, a clean exchange, and throws with a short/quick arm to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.47 seconds. At the plate, Oscar has a square set-up, good balance, and he has pop in his bat. He makes solid/consistent contact and gets good extension through the ball. Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
