06/29/2016 - 2016 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National South Oscar is a lightning fast, athletic two-way prospect who wows with just about anything he does on the baseball field. He has impressive speed (6.51 60 time) that he uses to torment on the base paths and to display excellent range at short. He shows natural actions in the field, with range, sure hands and quick feet. He gets rid of the ball with precision and makes very good DP feeds. At the plate, he has an aggressive approach looking to swing it. Oscar has quick hands and is comfortable spraying hard hit balls to all fields (exit velo = 91 mph). On the mound, Oscar has an explosive fastball that he runs up to 92mph and a tight curveball that has sharp 12-6 break and tight spin. He has a compact delivery and pitches with good rhythm and tempo. This is a very exciting prospect who continues to shine all over the field.

10/27/2013 - College PREP - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA Oscar is a lean, athletic SS/RHP that will graduate in 2017. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level but has solid abilities on the mound. Defensive grades in the MIF are outstanding as he displays smooth / clean actions. He utilizes his athletic feet well in attacking ground balls, plays through, and presents soft / sure hands well out front. Lateral movement is a plus as he displays range in the MIF. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play. Throws are accurate as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, Serratos continues to shine, through an open / athletic setup with balance. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to use his lower half more. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 75-77 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sharp / late break and shows a quality pitch that will get outs at the next level. He maintains his arm speed on his changeup, showing a feel for with slight arm side run. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength is gained. With 4 years to further develop, Oscar has a ton of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities, possibly as a two-way guy.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
