Official Scouting Report

  • 5Class Rating
  • OF/LHPPosition Projection

06/21/2024 - College World Series Experience - Session 2 Owen is a 5ft 10/155 athletic OF/LHP in the 2025 class. Defensively, he had a great week at the Omaha experience. He positions himself behind the baseball and works through. Has closing speed to the ball with 7.31 speed. Provides ball security and has the trust factor to run down balls in the gap. Once his arm develops further carry he will become the complete defensive package. On the mound, he is a strike thrower. In game action, he registered 4 K’s and only gave up 2 hits. Works the bottom half of the zone well with a two-pitch mix. His FB sat 72-3 with slight arm side run. His Breaking pitch had solid depth and tight spin at 64-5. At the plate, showed a balanced approach and excellent bat to ball skills. Had a solid week with 2 hits, BB and 2 RBI. Also swiped a bag. The ability to drive the baseball is there based upon his swing mechanics. Owen is a must follow in the 2025 class.

12/10/2023 - National Showcase - Lynwood (Chicago), IL Owen is an athletic 5 ft 10/155 OF/LHP in the 2025 class. In the field, his feet work well with his body and he covers his defensive zone well with 7.34 speed. He takes aggressive routes to the baseball and plays low to the ground. His pocket is clean and he can redirect the baseball with fluid actions. Creates a long high 3 qtr slot to generate on-line feeds back to the dirt at 77 velo. On the mound, he works with great tempo and stays down in the zone with 3 quality pitches. His FB sat 71-2 with tailing actions. His CB shaped 1-7 with medium break. Working to stay on top of this pitch will allow for more tilt. His CH ranged 66-7 and showed run and deception. At the plate, he begins in a squared stance and gains a proper load. His barrel stays on-plane and he can hit to all fields. Shows pitch awareness from keeping his head quiet. Overall, Owen is a solid 2025 two- way prospect who scouts feel can compete at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
