12/27/2018 - 2018 Inaugural West Coast Winter Classic - La Verne, CA Owen is a thin and athletic 2024 1B prospect that worked hard all week. At 1B, Owen has a strong arm and makes accurate throws. He needs to continue to be on time with his pre step, present a low/early glove, and works from the ground up. He needs to properly work off the bag and know where to go on cuts offs. At the plate, Owen starts in a squared stance and stays flat to the ball. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, get his front foot down on time, and attack the inside part of the ball. He works the whole field but needs to be more aggressive on fastballs. Owen will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

11/08/2018 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Owen is a talented 1B prospect who is a great team player. As a left-handed hitter, Owen has a square setup with a firm front side. He has a load with a long, closed stride. Owen shows fast bat speed with a direct swing path. He maintains a flat barrel producing consistent contact. Owen has an aggressive approach and is a line drive type hitter. In the field, Owen plays with a good approach and attacks the baseball. He fields it in a high position and stabs at it with his glove. Owen has a long arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. His throws are consistent across the diamond. He has the ability to adjust his arm slot depending on the play. Overall, Owen has skill with the right approach on both sides of the ball.

09/16/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Boise, ID Owen is a lefty 1st baseman with an athletic frame. Defensively, Owen has quick/fluid feet, soft hands, and he moves with good agility to the ball. He gathers well, has a quick exchange, and he throws with carry and accuracy from a quick release to his target. Offensively, Owen has an athletic set-up, he loads well, and has solid separation. He works the ball to the opposite field and uses his lower body. Overall skills can improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Throw downhill
2. DP's
3. Long toss
Offense
1. Rhythm/timing
2. Barrel accuracy
3. Bat speed

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
