09/20/2020 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Detroit, MI Owen continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show at SS for the first time at the event. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active but needs to attack balls more and play through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

02/17/2020 - National Tryout Plus - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI Owen increased arm strength to 55 MPH and showed well defensively during is last workout with The Factory. At SS, Owen makes plays through a good approach to the baseball. He moves well, fields squarely, and throws with a high 3/4 arm slot to his target. On the mound, Owen keeps his eyes on target, his FB touches 48 MPH, and he is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Owen has a square set-up, a short stride, and good balance. He has a still approach, he hits hard to the pull side, and he uses his lower body.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Owen is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Spring Training at Pirate City. In the field, Owen makes the routine plays and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Owen improve defensively. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a soft stride. He is fluid getting into his load and remains centered in his lower half. He barrels up the baseball and produces loud contact to all fields. Owen can improve as a hitter by taking a more level swing path. On the mound, Owen keeps his pitches around the zone with his fastball topping out at 51mph. Being more controlled gathering to his balance point can help Owen improve as a pitcher. Overall, Owen is a developing prospect who has the potential to further progress his skills on the field.

11/03/2019 - Interactive Video Program - Waterford Township (Detroit), MI Owen is a young, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, Owen has playable hands and feet, and he hustles well to the ball. He keeps it in front of his body, makes plays, and throws with a high 3/4 arm slot to his target. On the mound, Owen has good balance, he separates his hands on time, and he works quickly. He keeps his eyes on target and is around the zone with his pitches. Offensively, Owen has a tall stance, he strides toward the pitcher, and he gets good extension through the ball. He makes consistent contact and can spray to all fields. Overall skills can get better if Owen can work on the following.

2. Fielding position

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
