06/22/2012 - Maryland Select Training & Competition Parker is a 2018 graduate who pitches and also plays 1B. In the field, Parker has firm hands and active footwork. He fields the ball out front, but would like to see him stay low with his fielding position. He has playable range and makes consistent feeds and pivots around the bag. At the plate, Parker sets up with a closed stance. He keeps his hands back on the load and his stride is squared. He uses his lower half well and has some bat speed. He made consistent contact all week and shows the potential to be a big bat in the lineup. On the mound, Parker throws a natural cut fastball and he commands the pitch well. He also throws a curve that at times is left up in the zone, so he needs to continue to work on the consistency of the pitch. He stays in line with his delivery and has a smooth finish. Would like to see him work on getting to a better balance point to be able to repeat his delivery with each pitch. Parker is a big kid who shows the willingness to learn. He asked questions all week and made adjustments each day. With his attitude and work ethic, the sky is the limit for him in the game of baseball.
