Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

01/16/2015 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Crawley has worked hard and molded himself into quite a prospect on the diamond. At 1B, he puts his athleticism on display as he shows quick footwork moving well right to left. He is sure handed with the ability to pick it. Offensively, this RHH works back into a strong loaded position with rhythm. He swings against a firm front side, whipping the barrel with speed and driving it to all parts of the field. On the mound, this 6'1"/180 RHP continues to pound the zone. FB now cracks the mitt at 80 mph as he keeps it down in the zone, resulting in GB outs. Curveball has 11/5 shape with sharp action. He utilizes his frame working on top and driving downhill. Patrick is a versatile player who can make things happen in many aspects of the game. He is one to watch now that his high school career is beginning.

05/26/2014 - National Tryout - Jupiter, FL Patrick continues to show good progress both in the INF and on the mound. He is a big, young, athletic player with a very bright upside. At 1st base, Patrick has good body control, soft hands, and he fields out front of his body. He keeps the ball in front, can pick out of the dirt, and throws with accuracy across the diamond. On the mound, Patrick hides the ball well, he has good separation, and finishes in a good position. His FB currently hits 79 MPH, and he competes in the zone with all of his pitches. At the plate, Patrick has a square set-up, very good balance, and direct hands to the ball. He has good bat speed, a level swing, and he uses his lower 1/2.

05/23/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Memorial Day Classic 14U Participant Big strong body. Balanced hitter with a simple approach. Uses the whole field, hits the ball where it's pitched. Singled up the middle and made hard contact to the opposite field.

07/27/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City Patrick Crawley is a tall 2018 graduate who pitches and plays 1st base. In the infield Patrick has firm hands, active footwork, and has a controlled approach when fielding. He needs to be more aggressive in his defensive actions, work on his range, and be more sure on his feeds. At the plate Patrick sets up tall with his hands back, takes a short stride, and has some bat speed for his age. During the games he made hard consistent contact and showed a lot of future pop in his swing. He is sometimes early with his timing and can work on having a shorter swing path with more centered balance. On the mound Patrick pounds the strike zone with his fastball and showed good command. He has upside and will need to develop secondary pitches as he gets older. Needs to work on his finish to complete his delivery. Overall Patrick shows abilities with room to grow and improve as he gets older.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
