07/06/2016 - College PREP - Trenton, NJ Patrick is an intriguing prospect who is very strong and shows good athleticism on the field. At the plate, he shows some pull side pop with more power potential. Patrick has a selectively aggressive approach, looking for his pitch. He has quick hands getting the bat to the ball and generating good bat speed. Working on creating more extension (not rolling over) will allow Patrick to hit more line drives and tap into more power. On the mound, Patrick displays a four pitch mix that he attacks hitters with and is willing to throw any pitch in any count. He keeps his front shoulder directional towards the plate which allows him to command his pitches to the bottom of the zone. Patrick is a talented 2-way prospect who will make an impact in a variety of ways.

07/08/2015 - College PREP - Washington DC, MD Patrick continues to show well on the diamond. He has made several improvements to his game since we last saw him. At the plate, this RH swinger shows a balanced setup with patience, waiting for his pitch. Barrel delivery is level as he connects and drives the middle of the field. Working on being more direct and short to contact will result in even more hard hit line drives. At the hot corner, he has active prep footwork and moves well on the balls of his feet. He funnels to the smooth transfer/exchange and fires accurate throws from a live/loose arm. On the mound, Patrick has sound mechanics and a repeatable delivery. FB has slight tail while cracking the mitt at 84 mph. He hits his spots well and fills up the zone with strikes. Breaking ball has 11/5 shape with tight spin & late break. Patrick is a versatile player who can make things happen in many aspects of the game.

03/29/2015 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Patrick is a 5'10/160 lbs 3B/RHP that will graduate in 2017. Defensively, he worked his body around the ball and got the glove out in front to secure the ball with sure hands. He had good pre-pitch movement to allow appropriate jumps on balls and he displayed present arm strength to throw across the diamond. Offensively, he had good balance in his launch position and worked to get his hands activated. He was direct with the barrel down to contact and was loose through the zone making consistent line-drive contact. Getting into his legs more with the swing and allowing the ball to travel - to hit to all fields - will increase overall hit ability. In all - Patrick is a solid young player that has two years to strengthen his fundamental ability for next level play.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
