06/02/2018 - 2018 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's National West Patrick continues to show a promising future on the diamond. Defensively at 1B, he shows active prep with fluid actions. He works around the GB and through it as he gains ground toward his target. Exchange is clean with strong throws. Backhand is smooth with a quick release. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. He has fluid rhythm while getting good hand separation. Barrel is whipped through the zone (86 mph exit velocity) as he connects with strength. The ball jumps off of his barrel as he crushes it to the gaps.

01/12/2018 - 2018 Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Patrick continued to show as a prospect at the UAAAPS Tournament. In the field, Patrick covers ground well and gets into a square fielding position, fielding with firm hands. He has a clean exchange and makes accurate, on-line throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and maintains center balance. He takes a level swing with fast bat speed which leads to hard contact and line drives into the gaps. On the mound, Patrick shows a solid delivery and pounds the zone with all of his pitches. His fastball tops out at 76mph with good arm side run. Breaking ball ranges from 60-62mph with 2-8 break. Changeup sits at 64mph with arm side run. Patrick is a skilled prospect who has upside on the diamond.

05/28/2017 - College PREP - Keizer (Salem), OR Patrick is a strong, well-built 1B/LHP prospect who has a talented skill set and graduates in 2019. As a right-handed hitter, Patrick has a square setup with a firm front side and centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and square stride. Patrick shows explosive bat speed with a direct swing path to produce hard contact. He is a line drive type hitter who shows the ability to drive the ball to each gap. In the field, Patrick plays with fluid footwork and covers good ground laterally. He has good bag awareness and an aggressive approach. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low, square position. He has a clean exchange leading into a short arm action throwing from a high 3/4 arm slot. He plays with good momentum through the baseball to produce consistent, online throws across the diamond. On the mound, Patrick has a balanced, on-time delivery throwing from a 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm action. He has a good leg kick and stays square to home plate with a controlled landing. Patrick commands his fastball with good sink at 81-83 MPH. He also features a medium breaking curveball and changeup with good run. Overall, Patrick has the talent on both sides of the ball to become an impact player at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
