01/15/2016 - Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament Patrick flashed his best ability to date at the Baseball Factory All-America Pre-Season Rookie Tournament. Offensively, the lefty he sprayed the ball to all fields delivering the barrel on a direct path to contact. He had good balance from stance to finish and used his hands and hips together to accelerate the barrel through the zone. Behind the plate, he sat low and received with quiet actions. He had good sway, staying within his knees, and worked his feet to throw. He flashed pops as low as 2.08 and has the ability to continue to lower those times as he quickens his release and becomes more rhythmic with his actions. All in all - Patrick showed well defensively and offensively, going 4 for 6 in his ABs with a walk, a double, and 3 singles.

08/16/2015 - National Tryout Plus - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Patrick continues to really show improvements in his baseball abilities with the makings of a special type player at the next level. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, pop times have dropped as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.18. He gets rid of the baseball quickly with accuracy and on line carry on his throws. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play at the next level. At the plate, hitting / power grades have improved as well through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and uses his lower half well with baseball exploding off bat when centered as he works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields.

12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 Patrick continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.28. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. At the plate, he shows a strong / athletic setup. Hands are quick and work inside the ball as he utilizes the middle of the field well. He shows a feel for the barrel displaying a solid line drive approach with baseball jumping off bat when centered. At the event, he was 5 for 7 with 4 BB as he shows a great eye and is patient at the plate. Mental makeup is a plus as he is a great teammate and is very coachable and has a promising future on the diamond.

08/16/2014 - National Tryout - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Patrick continues to work hard on his game. With the bat, this lefty shows a balanced approach with smooth rhythm. He is short and quick to the zone, connecting and showing pull-side pop. Behind the dish, ball is quick from glove to hand as he gains ground toward 2B on his throws. He has an accurate arm and puts his throws on the bag. At 3B, Patrick presents his glove out in front and works from the ground-up. He gather well and plays through the ball toward his target. A 2019 grad - Patrick has skills with a ton of time to develop.

07/07/2013 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (Ages 12-14) Patrick did a great job at the Cape Cod event in all areas of his game. Behind the plate he displayed soft/sure hands, while showing athletic footwork. He squares the ball well when blocking and shows a quick exchange on his throws. He can improve by shortening his arm action on his throws as he tends to get extended. As an infielder Patrick has good hands and agile/quick feet but he can improve his first step and reading the ball off the bat better. As a hitter he has an athletic setup, good load, balance, rhythm and a short bat path but he tends to dive into the ball and he needs to finish with his hips. He is a student of the game and has an advanced approach, always wanting to improve.

05/18/2013 - Interactive Video Program - Lebanon (Nashville), TN Patrick is a solid, athletic catcher who hits from the left side. Behind the plate, Patrick has fluid footwork, sure hands, and he sticks the ball well. He covers and centers the ball well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with a quick arm action with accuracy and carry to 2nd base. He is a well above average catcher for his age. At the plate, Patrick has a square set-up, a short / square stride, and good balance. He can work the ball gap to gap, he swings in good rhythm, and he uses his lower 1/2 well. Abilities can improve with work on the following.

Catching
1. Keep eyes up
Offense
1. Less noisy hands
2. Shorten / Level off swing

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
