05/26/2012 - Little League® Experience Paul is tall/solid/athletic kid who plays OF, 1B and is a LHP. He has well above average arm strength but he needs to throw from a higher arm slot from the field. As an outfielder Paul is sure handed, has an athletic fielding position, footwork is fluid, he gets behind the ball well, he takes good angles, he has playable range and he is a hustler. In the infield he possesses many of the same qualities. Paul is sure handed, has a good athletic fielding position, he has a controlled approach, quick exchange, footwork is quick/efficient, range is excellent and his feeds are quick. Very solid all around defensive player. On the mound Paul displayed good arm action, tempo and finish. His FB ha slight run/sink and he throws it for strikes and his CH has run. He needs to keep his front side closed and not rush threw his balance point. At the plate he has an athletic setup, short/leg kick stride, centered balance, lower half gets through on a firm front side, he has good bat speed, good extension and he consistently squares the Bali up from a short/on-plane swing path. he needs to stay a little ore upright and keep his backside from collapsing. Paul is a great kid, tough competitor and he ha a lot of upside. If he makes a few small adjustments and works hard he should be a stand-out player in the future.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
