02/12/2021 - Baseball Factory Opening Day Classic (HS - East) Paul continues to show as a prospect on the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. He moves well laterally and covers a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) across the diamond.

11/22/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Gambrills, MD Paul is a sure handed MIF who only continues to progress. Defensively, he maintains quick/athletic actions working fluidly from right to left. Hands are presented out in front as he funnels smoothly to a quick transfer. Throws show zip/accuracy as he gains ground through the ball - now topping out 83 mph. DP footwork around the bag is outstanding as he replaces quickly and gets the ball in and out efficiently. At the plate, this righty maintains an athletic stance with rhythm and active hands to load. Swing is quick as he connects and sprays line-drives. Once on base, he will be a threat to steal as he has improved his speed, now running at 7.15. Fine is a skilled SS prospect who has a ton of upside.

All In - Winter Baseball Video Showcase Paul Fine is a slick fielding shortstop from Bethesda Chevy Chase High school with outstanding instincts and game awareness. He shows a quick first step ad ability to move well laterally and throw on the run. Has arm strength and is comfortable playing on either side of the bag. As a hitter Paul shows a quick bat with some pop. He has gap to gap power and can drive the ball out of the ball park as well. Does a fantastic using the entire field and barrels up the baseball on a consistent basis in a game situation. Simple approach at the plate that allows him to adjust to good pitching. Overall, this kid can really play. In a game situation he is the guy who hits the very best pitching that is thrown at him. Have seen him be very successful at the plate against guys committed to top colleges. Has the ability to turn around a very good fastball (90-94) and also react to a plus breaking ball. Has very good tools but Baseball IQ allows him to play at an even higher level in a game. Hard worker, great teammate and also a standout in the classroom with a 4.75 weighted GPA. Paul will be a very good college player and make an impact both with the bat and the glove immediately in the right program.

07/30/2020 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (HS) Paul continues to shine on the diamond with improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a 7.51 runner. In the IF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach.

02/22/2020 - Baseball Factory Mid-Atlantic Offensive Skills Weekend - Columbia, MD (Ages 14-18) Paul has turned himself into a strong prospect at the plate. In his most recent Factory outing at the Offensive skills weekend, he showed a 78 mph exit velo while delivering the barrel on a short/ direct path. His hands worked fast through the zone and he hit off a firm front side, really generating good lower half leverage. His balance was centered from start to finish and his consistent line-drive contact will translate into base hits and a table-setting role.

02/23/2019 - Mid Atlantic Regional Hitting Weekend (Ages 14-18) Paul is an athletic and talented 2022 prospect that was eager to learn and made several adjustments throughout the weekend. At the plate, Paul starts in an athletic stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He has a controlled stride and is aggressive on the fastball. He needs to continue to quiet his head, create fluidity in his load, and keep a middle approach. Creating backside rotation with his lower half and attacking the inside part of the ball will help him get extension through contact. Paul will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

07/17/2018 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Paul continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up, presenting hands as he makes the plays. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds of the double play. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

12/27/2017 - Baseball Factory Winter Classic - Session 2 (Ages 12-14) Paul continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level / short swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Barrel accuracy is a plus and he makes consistent hard contact. At the event, he was 5 for 10. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and plays the game hard.

12/09/2017 - Hitting Accelerated Training HS- Columbia, MD Paul is a coachable hitter who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Hitting Accelerated Training. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an athletic stance and is smooth getting into his load. He comes through well with his lower half and takes a level swing which leads to solid line drives. Paul can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. With four more years to develop, Paul has the time and potential to further progress his skills at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
