04/07/2019 - College PREP - Bowie, MD Paul continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, he has improved his hitting / power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and works to the through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Working to get stride foot down sooner to work on time will aid in improving hitting grade. At 3B, he displays smooth / clean actions. Feet are active and aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Glove action is soft / clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. Throws are accurate and will improve arm grade as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training & Tournament at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 14-18) Paul is a solid, athletic 1B who will graduate in 2020. At the plate he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is soft / sure and he consistently showed the ability to pick balls out of the dirt. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls through a low approach. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Paul has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
