12/29/2020 - All-In Membership - Marlborough (Boston), MA Paul is an OF prospect who will graduate in 2023. In the field, Paul shows active footwork and covers ground well. He fields the ball out in front of his body and has a clean exchange. He gains ground well on his throws and keeps them on-line to his target. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Paul field ground balls more efficiently. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance with center balance. He gets back into his load and hits against a strong front side. He stays direct through the ball and produces solid contact to his pull side. Paul can barrel up more baseballs by loosening his grip on the bat. Overall, Paul is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/09/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Brockton (Boston), MA Paul is a L/L OF who graduates in 2023. In the OF, he takes a quick first step with solid routes to track down fly balls. He maintains athletic actions and gathers well with a clean transfer to throw. Playing through the ball more while gaining ground will help to get more into his throws. With the bat, this lefty shows an athletic stance with a solid base and rhythm to load. He whips the barrel at pitches he likes and looks to drive the middle of the field. Swinging on a short/more direct path with increased bat speed will result in increased pop off of the barrel. This 2023 grad has skills with still time to progress.

11/18/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Marlborough (Boston), MA Paul is a tall, 2-way player who worked out in the OF and at 1B. In the OF, Paul has active feet, he attacks the ball aggressively, and takes good angles. He presents his glove well, his exchange is clean, and he throws with momentum and accuracy to his cut off man. At 1B, Paul has active feet, good range to the glove side, and he fields in a square position. He moves well around the bag and throws with a loose arm action to his target. At the plate, Paul has an athletic set-up, a short/square stride, and good balance. He swings in good rhythm, makes hard contact, and he uses his lower body. Paul can improve skills with work on the following.

Outfield
1. Throw downhill
2. Field further out front
3. Long toss
Infield
1. Play lower
2. Aggressiveness
3. Hands
Offense
1. Finish
2. Stay short

11/19/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Marlborough (Boston), MA Paul is a (L/L) OF who will graduate in 2023. Defensively in the OF, he attacks the ball with fluid footwork. He tracks down hard-hit fly balls with athletic routes and fires the ball to his target with loose arm action. As a hitter, this lefty is a pull hitter. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone and looks to drive pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Defense
1. Lateral range
2. Clean exchange to throw
3. Arm strength (long toss)
Offense
1. Develop a load
2. Lower 1/2 drive
3. Level out swing path

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
