Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2022 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Paul is a strong and athletic (6ft 1 / 225) 1B/RHP in the 2023 class. In the field, he demonstrates plus range and relaxed hands. His exchanges are clean and shows he can throw from multiple arm angles. On the mound, he works with great tempo and has a strong front side. His Fb topped at 73 and his CB sat 65. His CH sat 67 and has strong tailing action to right-handed batters. At the plate, his size is intimidating. He generates torque and uses his legs well. Gains proper separation and the ball jumps off the bat (84 exit velo). Overall, Paul is a high character individual, great teammate and will make a nice addition to the right college roster.

11/10/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 14-18) Paul continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At 1B, defensive abilities are solid as he shows smooth / fluid actions. He displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting abilities are solid with well above average power potential through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 76 mph. Fastball showed a range of 71-76 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with slight sink. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

06/23/2022 - BF Firecracker Classic WEST 18U Paul is a 2023 RHP/1B who showcased his skills during the Firecracker Classic Tournament. In the field, Paul worked to center the baseball and presents a big target at first base. He tries to create good fielding angles and tracks ball to glove. Made on-line throws to second base from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 84mph. At the plate, he hits from an upright and even stance. He activates his hands and gets extended through the hitting zone. He hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 85mph during BP. During the games, he proved to be a tough out as he reached base 5 times with 3 walks, and 2 HBP's. A right-handed pitcher who throws from a high 3/4 arm slot and lands square to his target. A 3-pitch pitcher who works off of a FB that topped out at 71mph, a 10/4 shaped breaking ball, and a changeup. Arm strength and command will improve as he incorporates his lower half and a long toss program. Paul is a 2-way player who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

05/30/2022 - All-In Membership - Orange (Los Angeles), CA Paul is a 1B/RHP in the class of 2023. At the plate, he showed an advanced approach with a middle of the field focus. Did a good job of keeping his load and stride quiet and consistent throughout his round of BP. Showed good bat speed and ability to get the barrel to the zone. In the field, he showed good pre-pitch actions to help him set his feet up to work downhill. Picked out hops well. Showed good feel for the glove and consistently made the routine plays. Showed good effort throughout his defensive workout and was very coachable. On the mound, he worked with a quick tempo. Delivered pitches from an over the top arm slot. Showed feel and the ability to throw strikes with both his fastball and his breaking ball while flashing in a changeup. Fastball was his best pitch and was up to 71 MPH. Paul is player with a year left before graduation. In that time we hope to see him continue to develop his skills on the field.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
