Paul is a C/OF prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Paul sits in an athletic stance and receives with a firm glove. He throws from a 3/4 angle and works to keep his throws accurate to the 2B bag. Increasing his range to block can help Paul improve as a C. In the OF, Paul makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. Paul can improve as an OF by getting into a more athletic fielding position. At the plate, this switch hitter shows a solid swing from both side. He sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He takes a level swing and drives the ball to his pull side. Working a smoother load into his swing can help Paul improve as a hitter. With three more years to develop, Paul has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
08/02/2018 - Baseball Factory Pro Select Training at Historic Dodgertown (Ages 12-14)
Paul is a big, athletic catching prospect who works hard and is tough on the field. He is a defensive stalwart who keeps everything in front and controls the game. He has strong hands to receive and fast feet to slide and block balls in the dirt. His exchange and release are quick and his arm is strong to throw runners out. At the plate, he has a balanced swing from both sides of the plate and makes consistent, square contact. He shows good pitch recognition and tracks the ball well to the barrel. Keeping his head on the ball will lead to harder contact. Paul is an intriguing prospect we want to continue following.
04/08/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Plano (DFW), TX
Paul is a young catcher with a solid/athletic frame. Behind the plate, Paul has playable hands and feet, a good target, and he works to keep the ball in front of his body. He has a clean exchange and a ¾ arm slot with some accuracy to his target. Offensively, Paul has a square set-up, good balance, and he swings with some rhythm. He can switch hit and is equally as good from both side. Paul will need to work on the following in order to improve.
