12/27/2014 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 A respect for the game and high baseball IQ made Paul's athletic ability even more impressive. A gifted athlete with a strong arm showed great body control with the ability to attack the ball with good angles and finish with soft, sure hands. Developing an explosive start could be the key to him creating more range and gaining more speed to top off his athletic resume. At the plate, Paul stayed inside the ball and used an explosive lower half to generate power to all parts of the field. Allowing the ball to get deep will allow him to see the ball longer and let the ball travel to where he is strongest at contact. Paul is definitely a player to follow and looks to have a bright future.

07/11/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One South Witt improved his foot speed as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.07. He utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movements displaying range in the MIF. Hands are soft / clean and sure as he presents well out front. At the plate, he shows a solid line drive approach and path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields though a short / direct stroke. At the event, he was 3 for 4.

01/17/2014 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America Tournament Paul is a middle infielder who performed well during his time at the UA All-America Pre-Season Tournament. He has a lean, athletic frame (5'11/145). His run stride is fluid and easy, and he posted a 7.19 60yard dash and got down the line in 3.74 from the right side. Defensively, Paul displayed a quick first step as he worked around the ball with proper footwork moving toward his target. He had a good exchange on the pivot. Paul added a quality backhand to his game and with an already quick twitch attribute, he will improve his range with a better pre-set ready position. At the plate, he showed a good square stride with good balance. He lets the ball travel getting barrel accuracy. Paul gains more gap power when utilizing his lower half with his direct to contact swing path. Paul will get looks at the next level as he matures not by his skill alone, but also because of his hustle and drive.

11/07/2013 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition at Pirate City Paul is a 'stud' who puts his talents on display. Offensively, this strong righty gets back into a loaded position and maintains good balance. He swings to and through the contact point, crushing the ball to the gaps. He hits the ball on a line and will be a run producer. Defensively, Paul comes to get the ball and works from right to left around it. He fields the ball out in front of his body as he plays through toward his target. Witt is an exciting prospect and will make an impact on the diamond this upcoming season.

07/22/2013 - College PREP - Washington DC, MD Paul is a young SS who has a smooth swing. At the plate, this right-handed hitter throws his hands, whipping the barrel through the zone. He maintains good balance throughout his swing and creates extension through contact. More backside lower 1/2 drive will help to increase power. Defensively at SS, Paul displays active footwork, moving around the ground ball well. He presents his glove out front and tracks the ball into his mitt. He has a clean exchange and gives accurate throws toward his target. Increasing his arm strength will help Paul if he wants to stay on the left side of the diamond. As a 2016 grad, Witt still has a lot of time to work on his skills.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
