12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Christmas Camp & Tournament at Pirate City - Session 2 Payton is a 2023 2B that has loads of potential in front of him. In the field he has the make-up of being a gamer. He reads pitches well and is in position to make plays. He plays low to the ground and his actions are smooth. Has the arm strength to move to any position on the dirt (81 velo) and is athletic enough to throw from different arm angles. Working on his 1st step quickness will put him in the category of an elite defender. At the plate, he projects to be a gap to gap hitter with power potential. His exit velo of 81 and his ability to use his body well should enable him to drive the baseball consistently. He has great leverage in his swing and has solid pitch recognition. We feel Payton is very close to becoming an elite player.

10/17/2021 - All-In Membership - Grapevine (DFW), TX Payton is a solid 2B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean and presents out front. He moves well laterally and utilizes his foot quickness (6.82 60 time) in covering a lot of ground in the MIF. Throws are accurate, flashing carry (80 mph velocity) but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying solid hitting / power potential through a squared setup. Hands are quick (85 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing and shows a feel for the barrel. With 2 years to further develop, Payton has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
