12/09/2018 - College PREP - Thousand Oaks, CA Pearce continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.10. In the OF, defensive abilities are now well above average. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. At 2B, he displays clean actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper angles and attacks balls plays through with his body. Glove action is soft and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with zip (81 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, hitting abilities are now outstanding through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields and shows a feel for the barrel with gap-to-gap pop.

03/18/2018 - College PREP - Monterey Park (Los Angeles), CA Pearce is an athletic, strong OF/2B who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he utilizes his feet well in tracking down balls through proper routes / angles. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. In the MIF, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls but needs to play through more with his body. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a crouched / balanced setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. With 2 years to further develop, Pearce has a lot of potential with time and room to progress game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "present" abilities (tools), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year, using the scale below. However, grades 10-18 are not available for use with High School players (ages 14-18), while grades 55-70 are not available for use with Pre High School players (ages 12-14). These instances are marked as "--- N/A ---" in the "Description" fields below.
