01/13/2017 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Pearce is a talented LHH with strong athletic measurables and projection. In the OF, his feet played effectively allowing him to close on balls with ease. His ability to secure the ball and cleanly exchange with momentum allowed for plus carry and consistency on his throws. At the dish, he showed present strength to create bat speed and had feel for the barrel. His fluidity & overall rhythm suggest future success as he progresses in the game. In all - Pearce's left handed bat projects well in the corner OF at the next level this fall.

11/06/2016 - College PREP - Vinton (Roanoke), VA Pearce is an OF/1B with a tall, strong frame (6"2", 195lbs.) In the OF, Pearce shows quick, active feet and is very agile covering ground. He gets into a low, athletic position and presents his hands out front to field the ball. He has a quick, clean exchange to throw with a long arm action from over the top. He shows a quick release and gains momentum well to his target allowing his throws to carry and remain on-line. Pearce can improve as an OF by working behind fly balls more consistently. At 1B, Pearce shows fluid movements and gets into an athletic position to field the ball. He fields the ball out front with soft hands and has a quick, clean exchange to throw. He has a quick release and gains momentum well to his target which allows his throws to carry and remain on-line. Pearce can improve as a 1B by being more fluid when fielding ground balls to his backhand. At the plate, Pearce sets up in an athletic, open stance and takes a short stride to the ball. He is smooth getting back into his load and finishes with a firm front side in his lower half. He takes a direct swing to the ball with explosive bat speed which leads to some impressive power. Overall, Pearce is a talented prospect whose skills will translate well to the next level.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
