04/19/2015 - National Tryout - Germantown (Memphis), TN Pearson continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date, now an above average runner at 7.19. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls and works to get behind, playing through with momentum to his target. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, hitting grade has improved through an athletic setup. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a level swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he works to get stride foot down sooner to work on time. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to load more and transfer weight properly through his lower half.

08/04/2014 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 Pearson is an athletic 2-way player who makes things happen. In the OF, he works light on his feet and can cover some ground right to left. He fields the ball cleanly, gathers well and works in-line toward his target. Developing more arm strength through a long toss program will help to improve his abilities in the OF. With the bat, this RHH shows a relaxed approach while working back into a strong loaded position. He swings against a firm front side and drives the ball. Pearson is a hard worker who is coachable and has a willingness to learn.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
