01/07/2022 - 2022 Baseball Factory Pre-Season All-America Tournament (AZ) Perry continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities at the Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off a soft chest. Pop times showed in the 2.08 range with accuracy in his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Offensively, he continues to shine through a tall setup. He has athletic/smooth actions with fluid rhythm to load. He gets good hand separation through a balanced approach. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He has near pro level power potential (90 exit velocity) and shows a feel for the barrel with gap to gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight from backside into a firm front side. Perry will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

08/09/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Rochester, NY Perry is a strong C/1B prospect who continues to show as a top prospect on the diamond. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a square stride. He is smooth to load and leads well with his lower half. He works through a level swing with fast bat speed, producing loud line drives and great raw power (93mph exit velo). Behind the dish, Perry shows active footwork to block and covers up well. He sits in an athletic stance and presents a good target to the pitcher. His exchange is clean and he gains ground well on his throws, keeping them accurate/on-line to the 2B bag. At 1B, Perry shows active footwork and takes good angles to the ball. He fields in a square position and has a clean exchange. He gets rid of the ball quickly and makes accurate/on-line throws to his target. Overall, Perry is a talented prospect who has the skill set to perform at the next level.

08/10/2020 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Geneva, NY Perry continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body during the blocking process centering balls out front. Receiving / blocking skills show as outstanding tools that will play well. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.03 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Range will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are loose and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

10/23/2019 - Under Armour SoCal Classic, powered by Baseball Factory's Team One Perry continues to show as a prospect with his baseball abilities. At the plate, power potential is now outstanding through a crouched setup. He is aggressive as he attacks balls through a level swing path. Hands are quick (90 mph exit velocity) and he has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. Quick lateral movements allow him to center/deaden pitches in the dirt off of a soft chest. Receiving / blocking skills show as quality tools that will play well at the next level. Pop times have improved as he threw his lowest time to date at 2.26 with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Perry is very coachable, works hard, and has an upside with his offensive / defensive abilities.

06/30/2019 - College PREP - Binghamton, NY Perry is a big/broad, 2-way player who catches and plays 1B. Behind the plate, Perry sits in low, footwork is efficient, and he presents his glove well. He tracks to his glove, keeps the ball in front when blocking, and has a clean exchange with accuracy to 2nd base. Pop times were as low as 2.30 seconds. Less head movement and keeping his chin tucked can help catching improve. At 1B, Perry has active feet and a presentable glove. He works around the ball, his exchange is clean, and he throws with consistency from a short arm action across the diamond. Finishing his throws toward his target can help INF skills get better. Offensively, Perry has an athletic set-up, good balance, and a fast/direct barrel. He makes square contact gap to gap, and he uses his lower body. Staying back (timing), and tapping into more lower 1/2 will help hitting numbers spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
